The Yamaha 01V96VCM is a compact and versatile digital mixing console that has proven itself to be an effective and reliable tool for both professional and personal use. There are many reasons why this mixer has remained so popular, such as the impressive amount of internal DSP processing and flexibility it offers at such a low price. The quality of its construction and the sound it produces are both excellent. It comes with 16 1/4″ TRS line level inputs and 12 XLR inputs with preamps, as well as 8 channels of ADAT optical I/O. You can add optional I/O cards as needed, and expand the 01V96VCM to handle up to 40 inputs. The optional cards provide 16 additional digital inputs and outputs of either ADAT, TDIF or AES/EBU formats. For more demanding jobs, multiple units can be synced together. It includes both the Version 2 software and select Virtual Circuitry Modeling digital dynamics and effects (which were previously available as optional add-ons). Version 2 software provides enhanced features such as the Channel Strip, Master Strip and Reverb packages, and it further enhances DAW integration with Nuendo and Cubase. The included VCM algorithms faithfully model every resistor and capacitor found in classic analog compressors and EQs to bring their warm sound to the digital domain. The high-end REV-X reverb is also included, as well as Studio Manager software, which features further enhancements and capabilities. It takes full advantage of the high-resolution digital recording medium with its 24-bit 96 kHz operation. Two internal effects engines (four internal in low-resolution mode) provide pristine 24-bit 96 kHz effects. All input channels feature flexible, independent compression and gating/ducking processors for full dynamics control. With its lightening fast 100mm motorized faders, large LCD display, and unbeatable flexibility, the 01V96VCM is the digital mixer to have for a wide range of live sound and recording applications.
